We are taking part in Give Hope Wings – an epic flying adventure with an important purpose.
This is a personal journey for us. As you may know, Sarah was well on her way to becoming a private pilot but that path was cut short. She loved flying with her dad. We were fortunate to be able to visit Sarah in Esterhazy or pick her up for medical appointments at short notice and weather permitting. All in all, her disease did not stop us from enjoying the love of flight.
This year's Give Hope Wings Expedition is a multi-aircraft series of flights consisting of one exclusive expedition in Central Canada, taking place in June of 2025.
As part of the expedition, I’m flying on a mission to make a difference. Supporting Hope Air allows me to combine my love of flying with an opportunity to give the gift of flight to others - our flight path takes us through some of the most interesting aviation sites the region has to offer but most importantly it takes us on a journey to connect with Hope Air communities.
Many of us take travel for granted. Give Hope Wings is about supporting those who don’t have that luxury. All fundraising through Give Hope Wings funds travel for patients in financial need who must reach vital medical care far from home - and as part of my journey I get the opportunity to connect with the people Hope Air helps firsthand.
Your support bridges the distance between home and hospital, and provides immediate impact for Canadians in need. The need has never been greater. In 2024, Hope Air serviced 45,000 travel arrangements - more than 1.5x the numbers for 2023 and bookings continue to increase in 2025. Despite this, our commitment is that no patient will be left behind when it comes to accessing vital medical care.
Your gift means that a family facing a difficult healthcare journey will not have to answer difficult questions about how or if they can afford to travel to the care they need. Your support allows them to focus on what matters most: their health.

Give Hope Wings is the largest volunteer-led fundraiser in Hope Air history. Championed in 2017 by pilot Dave McElroy and led by a committed crew of Expedition Captains, a squadron of pilots circumnavigate different parts of the world in support of Hope Air.
When you support Give Hope Wings, you fund its important mission.
Hope Air exists to bridge the distance between home and hospital for Canadians in need. Give Hope Wings participants believe that that all Canadians should have access to the healthcare they need, regardless of where they live or how much money they have.
In Canada, healthcare is universal but access is not. For the 30% of Canadians who live outside of urban centres, traveling for specialist care is an unfortunate reality. For those in financial need, it may feel impossible. Your support helps patients like Elo and her mother Ivy travel for treatments far from home.
